New Funding Opportunity: Pilot Fund Now Open

We Fund Collaborative R&D Projects

INOVAIT provides Canada’s image-guided therapy (IGT) industry and academic institutions with targeted non-dilutive funding for commercialization-focused R&D projects involving the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into IGT technologies. We will reimburse up to one-third of eligible supported project costs for projects selected through our application process.

Our Pilot Fund provides up to $150,000 in contributions for pilot projects lasting 9 to 15 months.

Our Focus Fund provides up to $2 million in contributions for two-to-three-year projects that have excellent technical and clinical merit as well as the highest probability of commercialization success.

    We currently have a call for applications for our Pilot Fund and are accepting applications between February 5, 2025 and April 2, 2025.

    Fund Facts

    INOVAIT is proud to be funded by the Government of Canada’s Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF). The SIF’s objective is to spur innovation for a better Canada by providing funding for large projects, ultimately:

    This funding opportunity is administered by the Sunnybrook Research Institute with funding from the Government of Canada.

    Pilot Fund

    Who?
    This competition is open to Canadian corporations, academic institutions and not-for-profit organizations. Each project must involve two to four Canadian collaborators and must actively involve at least one Canadian small and medium enterprise (SME). At least one collaborator must be based in a province or territory outside of Ontario.

    Industry Collaborators that are Project Leads on a selected Focus Fund project are not eligible to apply as either a Project Lead or a Project Participant.

     

    What?
    The Pilot Fund will support collaborative research and development (R&D) projects with an aim towards commercialization. All projects must involve the integration of artificial intelligence or advanced data capabilities into an image-guided therapy technology. Funding will support industrial research, including activities related to the discovery of new knowledge that aim to support the development of new technology-driven products or services and large-scale technology demonstration, including the advancement and development of new technologies into product-specific applications.

     

    How Much?
    Projects may request between $100,000 and $150,000. INOVAIT contributes up to one-third (33.33%) of total eligible supported costs in the form of reimbursement funding.

    At least one-third of INOVAIT’s contributions to the project must be directed to Canadian Collaborator(s) based outside of Ontario.

     

    When?
    Projects can begin no earlier than July 1, 2025 and end no later than December 31, 2026. Projects should be 9 to 15 months in length.

     

    Where?
    Register for an account on the INOVAIT Funding Portal. Proposals can be submitted through this portal between February 5, 2025 and 11:59 pm Pacific Daylight Time on April 2, 2025.
