Radiologists often rely on static 2D screens and siloed systems to interpret complex 3D medical images, leading to inefficiencies, high costs, and increased cognitive burden. Moreover, traditional medical education and collaboration methods can be resource-intensive and geographically constrained, further limiting access to specialized expertise and training. These barriers contribute to workflow bottlenecks, burnout among radiologists, and suboptimal patient care.
The Solution – INOVAIT Project
Luxsonic Technologies is tackling radiology’s most pressing challenges with an innovative virtual reality (VR) platform that transforms how medical images are interpreted and shared. Their immersive solution replicates a distraction-free radiology reading room within a portable VR headset, enabling clinicians to visualize and interact with complex 3D data from anywhere in the world. The platform also functions as a virtual classroom, enhancing medical education and collaboration across distances. With regulatory approvals from Health Canada and the FDA, Luxsonic’s platform is already in clinical use. Supported by INOVAIT’s Focus Fund, Luxsonic is integrating machine learning into its VR environment to assist with data visualization, presurgical planning, and treatment evaluation. By integrating machine learning and partnering with leading healthcare networks, Luxsonic is scaling its innovative technology to make cutting-edge medical imaging more accessible across Canada and beyond.
